A multifunctional desk object designed to be a
spatial anchor, emphasising ritual, and personal connection within increasingly temporary environments.
A response to hot-desking and hybrid working, the solution needed to be a portable object, something carried between spaces, capable of re-establishing the same working ritual wherever it's set down. This distinctive form emerged through physical modelling, and its potential applications were explored from there.
Concept development moved through rapid 3D printing, testing the interchangeable flange system against a set of defined personas, each with distinct working styles and desk requirements, to validate how one core form could genuinely adapt across users, not just in theory.
The final object was fabricated through metalwork: sheet rolling, milling, welding, and brazing, with CNC-machined aluminium components and a powder-coated finish. NOTO was presented at New Designers 2026, where it received the KeyShot award for Exceptional Design and Visual Communication.
